Where Yat? Who Dat? We Dat!

On this, our third return to New Orleans and a Sunday, we realized we would have to pay the top dollar. for our room so we booked at the Ambassador Hotel since they had free parking. We dropped off our bags and car at the Hotel and headed back to the Bayou St John Music Festival. We saw and heard great bands including Washboard Chaz and Monk Boudreaux's Golden Eagles. who had the Mardi Gras King & his family- they were dressed in full regalia. The final artist was Rockin' Dopsie Jr. & the Zydeco Twisters - who had a full band. Dopsie preformed moves like James Brown- amazing. Also a young boy came up on stage and played the bottle, which was a 40oz bottle & a stick. They were are great. After the concert we ate at Madina's, a local New Orleans family style dinner house. We got the crawsfish etouffee, which is an eggplant and crawfish based. Very tasty. This place gave us so much food- we had to get our bread pudding to go. And we shared an entree.

At this point we are pooped so we head back to the hotel. The front desk clerk was very friendly- and told us how she had left California & husband for New Orleans. We had to wait a while for our room. Once we got into our room- we notice the linens were lacking. We check other amenities to see if our room and had been cleaned- the bed most important - and it had not. So we call to get new linens. The bellboy came up and was very friendly- offered to change the sheets- but we insisted to do it ourselves. Once we started changing the sheets - we noticed they were too small. It was too much- we just laughed and made do. So, once we get back home we have to figure out getting a refund.

Monday- we decided to spend one last day in New Orleans, we promise. We went to cemetary one- which is the oldest in the city. Very interesting. Full of different tombs, the voodoo queen, Marie Laveau. Her tomb was covered with black and red xxx- people come and leave her a gift and ask her a question or for help. If it comes true you come back xxx.

We then decided to go back to one of our favorite spots, the Butcher, for lunch- we got a boudin - sausage filled with pork and rice. It was check in time so we went to our next hotel- St. Peter's guest house very rustic. That night we went to Frenchmen's street for more music and food- checked out the 3 Muses again- a good band. But as the night went on we had very special guest star - The Tambourine Lady- she was amazing. She played a song and was selling pecan pies- it was the best very. We bought a bite sized pecan pie and an autographed picture. She told us to follow her to Snug Harbor- a jazz club that has a cover. She got us in the door - very cool. We got to listen to a jazz band that was a mother, son and others. They were very good. We stayed there until the show was over and made our way back to our guest house.
