To deal with budget issues the County Admin is proposing the layoff of a Central Library employee and ALL branch library assistants. Although this is their recommendation they are hopeful that this may not actually happen. If the Union members vote for certain concessions this may be avoided. It is believed that the Board members do not want to close libraries.
NOW is the time for everyone to speak up. Please spread the word to your friends groups, neighbors, etc. and do any of the following:
Contact your county supervisor and tell them you do not want the branch libraries to close.
Attend the Budget hearing on Monday morning and speak during public comments. You can also wait to speak until the library portion later in the week.
Be prepared to show up during the library portion of the budget hearings later in the week - to speak or just show massive support. There is currently no set time for this but it could occur Wed Thur or Friday depending on how long other departments take for their presentations.
