The South Will Rise Again

Hello All,

We have continued on our travels, but can't seem to leave New Orleans. From Ocean Spring, MS we went to Bay St. Louis music festival. We saw a gospel chorus, big brass band and a rock band. Interesting scene, but the hospitality is not like New Orleans. So we came back and went to the St. John Bayou music festival, which is a fundraiser for community organization particularly mid city areas. It was fantastic. There was a lot of art and three stages of music. We listened to some blues, rock and hip-hop. It was great fun. We met more people and ran into some people we had meet early. New Orleans seems to be a big-small city- one lady told us that New Orleans is like an old lady- once she gets her hands on you, she won't let you go. We think that is true for us.

After the music festival we headed down to Houma, cajun country. We stopped at a local seafood stop- 1921 seafood- where a live band was playing. We ate our first shrimp and crawfish boil. Very tasty- we had to get a demonstration on how to eat crawfish from the waitress. The owner came over and spoke with us-very Cajun native. A small man with a trim beard and yellow shirt, smoking a tiparillo. He asked where we were from and let us know he was not pleased with Obama. I said "But he caught bin Laden". Well, apparently they could have caught him anytime...really?, time for a subject change. After we paid and started leave Jody offered to buy us a drink, which we could not refuse, it would be unsociable. As we were leaving for the second time he called to us "The south will rise again". Thank you bye, bye.
Back in our room that night we made reservations to return to the big easy - one more night.
