Please join the Friends of the Mokelumne Hill Library and the Mokelumne Hill History Society in celebrating their 10th anniversary on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 1-5 pm at the Mokelumne Hill Library/Archives, Main Street, Mokelumne Hill.
Program:
1:00 pm. Antoinette May, journalist and author, speaking on her career and her latest novels, The Sacred Well and Pilate's Wife.
2:00 pm. Glencoe resident Lloyd "Donnie" Ames, speaking about his three scrapbooks of old articles from local newpapers. These date back to as early as 1861 and relate happenings from Moke Hill to Rail Road Flat and West Point.
3:00 pm. Irene and Mike Boylson will demonstrate their Solar and Rocket stoves on the back deck. Thanks to the sponsorship by the Jackson Rotary Club they were able to teach needy communities in Brazil how to build and use these low-cost stoves.
3:00 pm. Music for your enjoyment by "the Sons of Moke Hill", Jeff and Phil, in Shutter Tree Park.
Other Activities: Cartooning demonstrations by Kevin Brady, Jugglers, Library Games, Piñata, History Society displays throughout the building and ICE CREAM CONES FOR EVERYONE.
