Archaeology at the Mary Wilborn History Garden
These rhyolite foundations were uncovered in the lot between the Library/Archives and Hosford Realty. While landscaping for the Mary Wilborn History Garden, a pair of stone foundations nearly forty feet long inspired an archaeological study. Uncovered in the then vacant lot between the Library/Archives and Hosford Realty, Ron Pitner of “The Greenery, Landscape & Design” recognized that the rows of rhyolite stones were clearly old and part of Mokelumne Hill’s history.
