The Annual Chaw'se Invitational Art Show will open on August 29 with a reception at 4:00 pm at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park. The show features the traditional and contemporary art of California Indian artists, The reception is open to the public and will be attended by the artists. .
The art show committee is looking forward to a number of youth artists at this year's show, according to event coordinator, Roger Clinkenbeard. Prizes will be awarded to the best two and best three dimensional art works. Winners will be announced at the reception.
The reception will be followed by ceremonial dancing in the roundhouse by the Miwok Cultural Dancers of Ione.
The show is in the Regional Indian Museum at the park and runs weekends from 10 am to 4 pm through Big Time September 26 & 27.
