Moke Hill Walking Tour

Historic Mokelumne Hill Walking Tour

A new walking tour guide to historic buildings and locations in downtown Mokelumne Hill is now available!  Written by the History Society, it includes line drawings by our own Marion Waldon, and a wonderful layout by volunteer Gayle Lorraine.  Petroglyphe Gallery sponsored the printing.  The brochures are available at the Library/Archives, Hotel Leger, Moke Hill Nuts, Petroglyphe Gallery, and McHales Revival Shop (with a suggested 50-cent donation).

MHFPD Board Meeting Tonight

The Mokelumne Hill Fire Protection District Board of Directors monthly meeting will be held at 7:00 P. M., on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Church Street Fire House in Mokelumne Hill.  The Public is encouraged to attend. We really need to show our support for our volunteer department and work together to be a part of the solution!

Attached is the meeting agenda.

People “Dig” the Moke Hill’s first Occasional Speaker Series Event

On Sunday May 5, 2013, the first speaker of the Occasional Speaker Series was Mokelumne Hill resident and archaeologist Julia Costello, Ph.D.   Julia shared stories and pictures highlighting her experiences as part of a team of archeologists at an excavation in Tyre, Lebanon, during the summer of 2012.  The team found and identified the most complete Phoenician temple found in Lebanon to date.  The library was filled with interested friends, residents and tourists.  Julia’s engaging story telling and pictures allowed us all to really “dig” the experience.
