The Calaveras Co. Commission on Aging has name Sally Tuttle the Female Volunteer of the Year in a ceremony attended by all County Supervisors. Sally was nominated by the AAUW, as was the Male Volunteer of the year, Tim Folenorf, of Angels Camp.
This is a big deal and we are proud to have our extraordinary Sally recognized!

Back by popular demand to supply just the right spicy style of music for the Calaveras Arts Council’s annual Cajun fundraiser will be Tom Rigney and Flambeau. The date has been set for Saturday, August 1, from 5:00 to 10:00 pm, for the Dinner/Dance Arts Benefit which is held in Sheep Ranch at the historic Pioneer Hotel, a 90-something year old former boarding house for miners.

To deal with budget issues the County Admin is proposing the layoff of a Central Library employee and ALL branch library assistants. Although this is their recommendation they are hopeful that this may not actually happen. If the Union members vote for certain concessions this may be avoided. It is believed that the Board members do not want to close libraries.
